Um ben Bereich Rock-Lexikon mit Leben zu füllen, beginne ich mit der Band die mich als erste Musikalisch inspirierte.

Die beiden Brüder Edward und Alex Van Halen begannen in Holland ihre ersten Musikalischen versuche, imigrierten aber 1962 mit ihren Elten nach Kalifornien. Alex erlernte Gitarre zu spielen.

Kurz darauf begann Edward, Schlagzeug zu erlernen. Als Edward seine Zeit damit verbrachte Zeitungen auszutragen um das Schlagzeug abzubezahlen, wurde seinen Bruder am Schlagzeug immer besser. Somit beschloss Eddie zur Gitarre zu wechseln.

Aufgrund dieses “Umstandes” wurde Eddie Van Halen zum Innovativsten Gitarristen der 80er Jahre.
Er entwickete das Tapping und wie die Legende besagt, Eddie seine Solos vor der Veröffentlichung des ersten Albums mit dem Rücken zum Publikum gespielt hat, um seine Technik vor Imitatoren zu verstecken.

Mitte der Siebziger Jahre gründen sie die Band “Mammoth” mit Michael Anthony und David Lee Roth.

In den späten siebziegern benannte sich die Band in Van Halen um. Sehr schnell wurden sie nach New York geflogen, um eine Demo aufzunehmen, das Gene Simmons von KISS produzierte. Kurz darauf wuren sie von Warner Bros unter Vertrag genommen.

Mai           2000 -
Eddie unterzieht sich Untersuchungen die Zungenkrebs diagnostizieren.

Januar      2001 -
Gerüchte über eine Reunion mit David Lee Roth während Eddie den Krebs bekämpft.

Januar      2002 -
Nach 23 Jahre zusammenarbeit trennen sich dei Wege von Van Halen und Warner Bros. Records.

May          2002 -
Eddie gibt über die Bandwebseite bekannt, das er frei von Krebs ist.
Während dessen gehen Sammy Hagar und David Lee Roth gemeinsam auf Tour.

Dezember 2002 -
David Lee Roth verklagt Van Halen und Warner Bros. Records auf seine Anteile.
